What you need
Buy this once and you can tie the rig on the pier in a couple of minutes.

Assembly
Tying the float rig (bobber rig)
Wet every knot before you cinch it down. Dry mono cuts itself as it tightens.
Attach the popping cork or bobber to your main line at the desired depth.
Tie 2 to 4 feet of fluorocarbon leader below the float.
Add one or two split shot weights about 12 inches above the hook.
Tie a light wire hook to the end of the leader.
