When to use it
Use when you need a quick double line for fighting big fish from the pier. Faster to tie than a Bimini Twist.
Step by step
Tying the spider hitch
Wet the knot before the final pull. Friction from a dry cinch is what breaks most line.
Double about 3 feet of line to form a long loop.
Hold the loop between your thumb and index finger, forming a small reverse loop on your thumb.
Wrap the doubled line around your thumb and the small loop 5 times.
Pass the large loop through the small loop on your thumb.
Slowly pull the doubled line and the loop in opposite directions to tighten.
Moisten and cinch down completely.
