When to use it
Essential for building multi-hook bottom rigs on the pier. Creates a perpendicular loop that holds hooks away from the main line.
Step by step
Tying the dropper loop
Wet the knot before the final pull. Friction from a dry cinch is what breaks most line.
Form a loop in the line where you want the dropper.
Wrap one side of the loop around the other side 5 to 6 times.
Find the center of the wraps and push the original loop through the opening.
Hold the loop with your teeth or a pen while pulling both ends to tighten.
Moisten and cinch down firmly.
Tips
- Use a pen or nail to hold the loop open while tightening.
- Space your dropper loops 12 to 18 inches apart for a double-drop rig.
- The loop should stick out perpendicular to the main line when done correctly.
